Historical Narrative, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance

Assignment

Your assignment is to create two parallel stories of a fictional history character's day/week. Each story should be the same except in places where life in the middle ages would differ from life in the renaissance.

For example, I woke up today to my alarm clock, then took a shower using the modern marvel of modern day plumbing and ate two Eggo waffles cooked in a toaster oven while I watched the morning news on the TV. In the 1800's I would have woken up to the sun rise, not taken a shower and so on.

Requirements

You must have two short stories as described above. You may use resources listed below or other resources. You must create a believable character doing things that would not be outlandish and referencing historical events and people covered in class and in your notes.

  1. Use one person’s point of view (your fictional history character)
  2. Use chronological organization and transitions
  3. Describe people who actually lived and events that actually happened. However, you may include fictional people and details.
  4. Show you have an accurate understanding of historic events and details of actual places.
  5. Create two parallel stories, one where your character lives in the middle ages and one where your character lives in the Renaissance.
